Dole Warriors Production Day 01

So yesterday marked the start of production with lead actor Danny Vincent playing the part of Ben Peters. This scene saw the Ben Peters character in his own home as the unwelcome TV network crew surprise him with some less than appealing news.

Although it was a very small scene to be filmed yesterday, it was fantastic to be getting started and the mood in the air is definitely one of excitement an anticipation for the production days to come. The scene itself makes up one of our secondary production days, the much bigger and more hectic days will follow in the coming 3-4 weeks.

Aside from the shoot itself the main priority now is the exciting rush to the finish line on the props, set and costumes. Having discussed the project at length for some time now, it’s great to be finally bringing the concepts, designs and scripts into reality, and when the actors step into the scene the story really starts to come to life. It may only have been a short scene and a small introduction to principle photography, but it’s fair to say that after months of planning and anticipation… Dole Warriors is alive at last.

Dole Warriors Action Short Film: Pre-Production

There’s excitement in the air as the room around us starts to fill up with props and costumes, and the production schedule starts to take definitive shape; Dole Warriors is about to begin. It’s true that I can barely move around now for all the prop weaponry, costume parts, set pieces and production materials that are in ever increasing piles on all sides, and I couldn’t be more anxious to get started. Our first shoot date is now confirmed for this coming Monday and although it’s only a small scene it marks the start of part of the process many people love the most: Production. This is the part where everyone involved with the project gets to step into their designated roles as cast and crew, and we get to make what has previously just been words on a page come to life. It’s going to be a very busy month as the 7-8 production days will span over March and April, and will come to an end April 17th, when post-production will begin.

The current task at hand is preparation! Prop-making, costume finishing, screen tests, rehearsals and a whole lot of scheduling, and I’ll be sure to keep everyone updated via the blog week by week with pictures and videos and info as principle photography goes on.

To start it off, here’s a few sneak-preview snaps of a few bits of prop and costume for the upcoming shoot.

Be sure to check in next week for a quick look at week 1 of production…

Waking Ed Update!

For anyone who’s been following the progress of my latest project Waking Ed I thought I’d post a little progress update…

Well, we’re mid-production, with a bulk of the scenes already shot and only a couple more production days to go. The footage is looking great and some of it is already on the timeline, in edit. There are some pictures below of the the set we constructed for part of the shoot, and I’ll try and post a few more production stills when I liaise with my set photographer.

It’s really exciting to see it start to come together and take shape – certainly a weight off to know that all the plans are going to work! There’s still a lot to do and shoot before we get to post production, and then the hard work really begins.

If anyone is still interested in getting involved, I’ll shamelessly plug the Sponsor Page one more time, and tell everyone to check out the rewards listed down the right hand side of the page, for different pledges. So far we’ve had an awesome and really quick response and we’ve already met our target budget – Now we’re aiming for 150% completion before the time’s up, to give the post-production, broadcast and distribution of the film as good a chance as it can get!

I’d love to add a few more names to the sponsor credits, and aside from the rewards on offer for pledges, it’s a fun thing to be able to say you’re supporting. Thanks in advance to anyone who donates.

I’ll try and get another update online soon, but that’s all I’ve got time for this evening. Catch you later!
